A Final Goobye!

Hi!

These five weeks have been annoying I must admit but I definitely learned something from  this project and that's time management. I tend to be a procrastinator procrastinator and leave everything till the last minute. With this project you definitely can not do that. The weekly blogs  ensured I was staying on task . I also learned about the importance of doing it right. I had to redo some shots a few times because it just didn't look right. As a wise man once said Do it right or Do it again!

Hello!

Before I finish this project I must sound into my short film. I searched google for the best royalty free sites and found one called Danosongs.com. I browsed the sight and played various songs and ended up finding one I liked. I was looking for a nice smooth jazz song. The song is called Remember the Stars-Jazz. I put this at the end of my film with the dog running gracefully in the field. The sweet music just really fits and helps portray the peacefulness and clarity of the final scene.

Editing!

Good evening!  Today I finished completely filming so now I am tasked with the process of editing all my clips and putting them together. I was lost at first on how to edit so I searched google for the best editing apps. I found an app called SPLICE which is partnered with GoPro that allows you to edit with ease. The app is completely free.

Filming Day!

Today is the big day, all the hard work has been finished and now I can begin filming. I  began filming yesterday and finished some shots today. I have many different shots in my film which really work well. I'm loving the shots I've been seeing. Many close ups and POV shots. Also I found an app called Action movie FX that lets you create a surplus of special effects. Also the filming location of the dog running on the track has changed to an open  field because some people are scared of big dogs.

Dialogue!

Hello people!

I apologize for my absence the last few days, I got caught up in applying for college scholarships. I plan on filming sometime today or early morning tomorrow. I realized I had not made a dialogue script for my film yet. Today I finished the dialogue script. The dialogue will remain relaxed throughout the whole film. The dialogue will only be between three characters throughout the film. The dialogue is shirt and sweet.

Filming the Intro!

Good Afternoon!

My storyboard has been finished so now I am ready to film my introduction and opening credits for my short film. The opening intro was filmed  in my bathroom because it offers a nice empty dark place. I used a burning candle as background for the telling of the old Hindu proverb.This has been a very stressful week with the quarter ending so I am glad I can finally film. Now my attention must be spent on learning how to edit and put together shots.

Changes/Storyboard!

This week I've been working on a storyboard for my film. My goal is to begin filming within the next few days. I also have made a minor plot change. Earlier in my blog I stated the boy would be reincarnated as the dog but I realized it would make more sense if the dog came back reincarnated as the boy. This is the only change I have made. Below I will attach my storyboard. I am not the best artist so it does look a little messy. I apologize!

What's Good!

Today our class went to the media center to talk about our projects with other students. This was very helpful because many students pointed out the things I was missing such as a works cited for most of my blogs. One important thing I realized I was missing was my films target audience, so I will discuss that now.  The target audience for my film will be audiences ranging from the ages 10-99 years old. The film will have a reincarnation/ dogs purpose message that everyone can relate to and understand. The film will target those who are animals lovers and those that believe in reincarnation. 

Research on Reincarnation

Hello!

Since reincarnation is a major part of my film I realized I must research the Hindu belief on reincarnation. The Hinduism belief is that a soul reincarnates again and again on earth until it becomes perfect and reunites with it Source. This process is a long one during which the soul takes many forms and passes through many births and deaths. For instance, This a proverb from Hinduism "Just as a man discards worn out clothes and puts on new clothes, the soul discards worn out bodies and wears new ones." (2.22)". This belief goes perfect with my film because Jack's soul reincarnates as Jack the young boy.The soul is just passing through life making everybody's life better. The Hinduism belief will be major theme in my film. The Soul of Jack the dog will be reborn into Jack the Boy.

Now that I have come up with a consistent plot line I must finalize all my characters and filming locations. There will be three main characters in my film. Hannah (my dog) will play as jack the dog. Alicia (my mother) will play as Alice the owner of Jack the dog. And then I will play as Jack the son, the reincarnated soul of Jack the dog. Below is an attached list of all my characters.

Now I will talk about the filming locations. For the opening portion of my film I will use my with all the lights off and only a candle lit where I can talk about an old Hindu proverb. Next I will use the ridges park because it has a wide field that my dog will be able to run in. Then I will use my high schools track.

Research!

Hello again! 

I figured I would research the films I have gotten inspiration from. I have been researching the film Marley and Me and have found this clip very useful in what I'm trying to convey.This clip really conveys the joy a dog brings its owner throughout its short lifetime. The owner comes to think of the dog as family member and not really as a pet. I want to to convey that in the first part of my film.

  

This picture shows Marley running and enjoying himself as he plays wth it's owner. I want to do something similar in my film with my dog Hannah. She will run through a field while playing with her owner.

The second clip and image is from the movie "Fluke" by  Carlo Carlei and shows the woman's husband reincarnated as a dog. Fluke the dog manages to show his wife who he really is by digging away the snow covering the word "forever" at the bottom of his tombstone. Fluke would often say this word to his wife in his human life. I want to something like that where the mother in my story figures out that her son has been reincarnated as her dog.

Still Grinding!

Hello!

I have finally come up with a rough draft for plot I want to work with. I have gotten inspiration  from the 1995 film "Fluke" directed by Carlo Carlei. I have also gotten inspiration from the film "Marley and Me" directed by David Frankel. In both these movies the pet dog serves as one of the main characters who make their owners life significantly better. For now plot will start out with an old Hindu proverb about a dogs purpose in life and how they can be reincarnated as humans. The film will then cut to a (earlier date in time)young lady having fun with her dog in the park. The dog will gracefully run around and smile which will cause the lady to be joyful as well. The film will then cut years later when the dog is very old and nearing death. The next cut will now show the same young lady but now as a mother crying tears of joy watching her son who now runs track with such grace just as her dog once did.     

I still have many holes and much work to do, the research will continue.

It's A Process!

Hello there!

I have finally figured out the genre I am using and it will be fantasy/drama. I was a little stressed at first thinking of a genre and a plot to use but my mom helped calm me down as usual. I was also worried because I have never edited videos and had no idea how to put clips together but with the help of my grandpa I was enlightened. I asked my mom her opinion on my plot and she loved it and even gave me some interesting ideas to throw in. My mother has a totally different perspective on life then me so I figured she would be a great person to ask. My mother and I are big animal enthusiasts so my plot will likely involve one of my dogs. I am still developing all the characters. My plan for this project is to begin filming by week 3 so I can basically cruise through the last few weeks. Once the brainstorming and filming has finished this project will be effortless.

Starting it off!

Hello people,  I welcome you to my adventure on creating this project.

To start, I will introduce myself. My name is Jake  and I am an 18 year old student .I currently attend Cypress Bay High School and am a Senior. I run track competitively and will continue to do so in college.  I am taking this project up individually but will have the help of friends and even family for editing and filming.

What is this project ? -  I am creating a two-minute film opening. This is the most information you can have as of right now. I am working on the genre, storyline, and characters which will all be released soon.
These next two weeks will be all about planning and research.  The most important thing I must do is pick a genre. I was thinking along the lines of comedy that will also send a motivational positive  message that everyone can relate too.I plan on researching film genres and film inspirations.

This project will be due April 9th, I will work like a slave to be able to be fed like a king. I am exited to show the final film opening with you
